300 Entrecard drops in 20 minutes
Many of you are well aware of the Entrecard network. It is basically a free advertising program. Instead of spending real money, you spend credits that you earn by drops or earned from others wanting to advertise on your site. Each drop is worth 1 credit. Soon after I signed up for Entrecard, I got rather bored with it. I recently read some entries on people buying and selling these credits. I don’t want to spend money, and if I did it wouldn’t be on Entrecard. It turns out there is a limit to 300 drops (possible credits) per day.
So why would I want to spend my time doing this? Well 20 minutes out of your day isn’t really too much time for a blogger. You don’t really notice but a handful of hits until you start tossing around 200ec per ad. If you are messing with finding out how to disperse your 70 credits among many decent sites, you are wasting your time. That time could be put towards getting 300 credits in 20 minutes. Do this for a few days and start paying 200ec per ad, but on ads that are actually worth it.
Just because you bid on a high priced site, doesn’t mean it is worth it. Check out the web site and look for a few things. First check the comments. If you see a decent amount of activity, then that means the site’s visitors actually interact, thus increasing the odds of a click on your site. Also check the appearance and the topics. If the site looks very ugly, and the topics are not at least half-way close to yours, then you may want to invest elsewhere. You could also check the page rank of the site. If it isn’t ranked, you also may want to keep looking. Once you start climbing up the ladder, you can then be more picky and bid on sites with at least a page rank of 2. If your site isn’t ranked, you have better chances increasing your rank by PR1 sites compared to higher page ranks as it looks like paid advertising to Google.
OK OK, Where do I find these 300 sites though? Glad you asked. There is a very good list that gets lots of attention over at PowerDropping.com that you may want to check out. I prefer using Firefox to do this. You can hold CTRL when you click the links to force them to open in a new tab. Power Dropping maintains a list of fast loading sites that present their entrecard code above the fold. This makes hitting the drop button much faster.
New Look Same Great Taste
Shudogg Dot Com has went through a dramatic change. I took the site down for the last week getting things in place. I hope you all like the new look and feel of the site. I think it will make things easier on you guys. I still have some more construction to do, but the site will stay up for this portion. I need to finish making a logo, and finish up the content on the pages you find on the nav menu, like the “Make Money” section. Then I need to get “Brians Threaded Comments” integrated properly. At least I can start posting again on a regular basis. I need google to give me a page rank soon.
The theme is also a case study in itself. A lot of the people among the blogging community are familiar with “Unique Blog Designs”. They make great themes, but majority of them running around have the same underlying layout. This case study is to make a UBD looking site, and have their logo. So the question is, does having a theme done by UBD bring you more hits in itself? You can try it yourself. Just buy one of their cheaper premade themes, keep the logo and redo the site. I feel if you already paid, you can at least modify the code. You bought the rights to the thing!
I finally got the adsense banners to stop showing dead white space, which makes the site look cleaner. I will post how to do that later when I can think better. It is 3am right now.

Making Life Easier
I have been doing a lot of code editing to my theme. I completely removed the widgets from my theme’s sidebar. I did this so I can login to my Wordpress dashboard and edit the sidebar.php file. Before I would have to edit the actual plugin’s php file, then upload it using an FTP software. My goal is to make my site rely only on the dashboard. I don’t want to have to edit files and upload them. This will make life easier.
The Google bots may not be too happy since I haven’t updated as often for the past week. I have been busy behind the scenes at getting my code perfect for me. I have the knowledge and skills to do all the coding and everything for my site, but if I have to do a lot of work to edit/maintain the site, then I will be less apt to work on it. Luckily I know how to do this.
I edited my Ad campains, and fixed the adsense code. Now it doesn’t show the ugly white space where the banner ads were supposed to be after 3. I don’t feel the collapsing script woks with my site for some reason, so I took action into my own hands.
I still need to add the code to exclude the sidebar from Kontera. Sometimes Kontera will include the “Affiliates” heading and double underline it. This makes the site look tacky. If I notice it still doing it, I will add the exclude tags.
I am waiting on Azoogle to respond back to me. I had to email a screen shot to them for proof. Then today I missed a call from Neverblue Ads. Called the lady back, left a message, nothing yet… I will figure out how to rotate my ads. I was using the adsense manager, but it wouldn’t allow me to get rid of the dead white space for google adsense ads, so I ditched it. I may switch them out every month. One month run Adsense, the next run Azoogle, and so on.
Expect to still see things changing and moving around the site. I have a hot deals page that will be updated probably once a week. I have a few top companies that send me an email letting me know of their hottest deals. Some of which are Web Only deals, so you can only find them here! You will see Newegg, Tiger Direct, Circuit City, Best Buy, and other top names you know and trust. Everything goes through them, I just point you to where to find it. So it is safe and secure.

Why FREE? - Well I am trying to build up the linkbacks to my site, as well as get advertising on other sites. Right now I do not have the funds to pay for such advertising on high traffic sites. I got word not too long ago that soon I will be out of a job. I have been looking for jobs in the real world, but I am trying to make this online business work as well. Most sites charge even a small $20 fee for someone to place an ad on their site. I could do this, but right now traffic is more important than money. Why would I do this for you? - Well one reason is it is FREE. Right now my site doesn’t have tons of archives to dig through, so the chances of them clicking on your site are increased. Majority of my visitors will check out the sponsors section. Another is out of the goodness of your heart. As I mentioned above, I am losing my job and trying every method to get traffic to my site. I have a family to take care of, so think of it as feeding my little girl. Lastly, I am giving up advertising space that I could use for a PPC program, but I am giving up a few cents per click, for traffic. Right now, you will probably get majority of my visitors, and all I am asking for in return is at least a text link.
I will do it, what are the rules - Your site must be of appropriate content. This means no adult material, warez, or anything deamed illegal. Your site must be either G - PG13. You must have a Google page rank of a 3 or higher. I only have four ad spots to offer, so I don’t want to waste my ad space on lower traffic sites.
I meet the requirements, whats the catch - There is no catch. It is all FREE. As long as a link to my site is on your site at or above the fold. I do have the right to remove your ad at any time. If I remove your ad, you then are free to stop linking to my site if you wish. I don’t plan on removing anyone that brings me traffic for a while. When my site gets larger, I may start charging for the ad spots. At that time, I will extend the offer to you. If you don’t wan’t to pay, then your ad will be removed.
If you are not bringing me traffic after 2 weeks, then I may replace your ad with someone else that can bring me traffic. I will not remove your ad for no reason. Either you aren’t bringing me traffic, and there is another offer that can, or I decide to start charging for those spots.
When I start charging for the ad slots, your ad can still stay up. I will take the site with the lowest hits and offer them a chance to counter offer. If they don’t, then they will be removed.
Enough with the legal babble - I think you guys get the picture. The site bringing me traffic will stay, the lowest site may be eliminated. I don’t plan on charging though for a few months. I will not ask you for money, I will just say “I have decided to start charging $x for ad slots. Do you wish to buy yours?”. If you do not wish to do so, then your ad will be removed. No hidden charges later down the road, so don’t worry! So bring me the most hits, and get more free advertising on my site! Who knows, I may write a monthly review on the site that brings me the most traffic!
